As a student of history I have the unfortunate honor of having to read upon the darkest and most shameful chapters in human history and the depths of evil and depravity humanity can sink. This scene, the dispossessed and imprisoned staring out through the bars of their prison in despair and sorrow that they may well die far away from the home they once knew and the place that they loved is as very iconic one. One that could be from any Concentration Camp, any prison in the former Yugoslavia, any Armenian camp in the Ottoman Empire, any Soviet Gulag, the prawn takes the place of those victims and joins them and while it is fictional the real lie parallels are all too easy to draw

The prawns body language is what makes this piece stand out, its shoulders are slumped, its eyes are lidded, its arms hand by its sides and even the antenna is drooping, this creature has been broken down and has given up hope, its waiting for the reaper to call. The earthy tones for the prawn and the background broken up by the gleaming metal of the wire help the mind make the comparison to the historical victims of human prejudice and hate, it's a very striking piece and you should be very proud of it
